Rachel Bates, registered psychotherapist
M Phil – Counselling & Psychotherapy; M A – Psychology

I am a registered psychotherapist serving clients in and around Crawley, England.

Alongside working with individuals on a one-to-one basis (face to face & online), I also offer Mental Health Awareness Programs to Organisations & Institutions.

As your trainer/therapist, it is my priority to create an atmosphere of learning that promotes growth and positive change.

While mental health awareness is about a fundamental understanding of what mental health really is, psychotherapy is a psychological method used to alleviate suffering that may be caused by a crisis situation, traumatic event/s or unresolved grief.

Treatment Approach

field pathHuman personalities are complex and so are their perceptions and responses. I therefore integrate my approach to the ‘person’ rather than to the problem.  I do not aim to reduce the symptom, but address underlying issues in the realm of one’s self awareness of meaning, value, creativity and purpose.

My treatment plan will integrate approaches such as Existentialism, Cognitive-behavioural, Humanistic, Person-centred and Relational psychotherapy.

Additionally, there is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research suggests that individuals who are able to use these techniques learn resilience and become better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my mission to help my clients move past barriers,  that hinder them from recovering and reaching their full potential, both individually and relationally.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
